    Best consumer camera for broadcasting

Over the next few months we will be upgraded the audio and video equipment in the studio and want to know what you guys think would be the best possible option for our cameras. Currently we are leaning towards the Canon HF G10.

My long time favourite has been the HV40, and before that the Sony HVR-A1E/U. Now I'm leaning towards the HFG10.

What would be a good camera for around 500 dollars?

Used HV40s can be had for around that price. Or a used HFS10. Both great.

I think the G10 is the best in the price range.

Also keep a lookout for the Canon HV30 its pretty much the same camera as the HV40 minus a few minor features, they tend to sell for half the price of the HV40 on ebay. I love canon and would say that any of their HD range with both firewire and HDMI outs is a good option, but yeah the HV30 is the most 'bang for your buck' I think you say?

side note, the legria is the pal version and the vixia the ntsc.

the HV 30 and 40 are both great cameras. Spencer from the bald truth has one as a secondary shot and it looks great

on the HV30 I connect via both firewire (for the live stream) and HDMI (for full 1080i capture via BM intensity pro)

If you have 1300 - 1500 GBP to spend then I would go for a second hand cannon 5D Mk II or III DSLR's

for real high broadcast quality footage
