    Recording levels

    Hi all

Anytime I covert a wav file to mp3 after recording my podcast I notice that the volume level goes down. Should I continue to normalize afterwards, or leave well alone ?

By the way I use Adobe Auditin for editing.

Are you editing in multi-track mode then mixing down to a single track?

Does it drop about 3db? if so, you can go into the Preferences, under the Multitrack tab at the top there should be an option that says "Left/Right Cut (logarithmic)". Check that and your levels should stay the same when you save out your multitrack sessions. Audition does a hard limit to -3db when saving them out by default. This turns that off.
