Dan, you're in a great place to get helpful info & inspiration. There are some very smart & talented people here. Thetechbuzz, Steve Heywood has a weekly show called Broadcast Now. http://www.thetechbuzz.net/live/

I totally admire Steve Heywood, Andrew Zarian, Spencer Koburn, etc. It's been a real thrill watching Steve grow from a humble beginning to the pro he is now.

My journey started with YouTube, expanded to Chris Pirillo's Geeks web site, live shows, Wirecast, etc.

I had my live shows for awhile, but found the experience to be somewhat exhausting. I can do the YouTube videos whenever I like.

Here is what I am starting with...

Hard to make out, but in the rack is an MDX4600 Compressor and a Headphone amp.

Really nice setup. What do you use the tablet for (What are those squares in the tablet)?

Well, it certainly appears that you have all of the ingredients. I'm not quite done with my set-up but Christmas gave me a good excuse to make some progress. Still waiting for my rack to arrive but I haven't yet settled on a mixer. If I wasn't so darn finicky I could've been up and running months ago.

    Thanks!

The iPad is running my SoundBoard app... All of those buttons are sounds that I can play through my mixer at the push of a button - burps, farts (yes, it is that kind of show), laughs, screams, breaking glass, etc... You can put whatever you want in the buttons, and have multiple banks of buttons.

It makes things super easy. The only problem for me is trying to keep track of using my soundboard while adjusting the mixer as needed, referring to my laptop, and reading my notes all at the same time... I am going to be moving in a few months, and will make some adjustments as to where the pieces are located to improve my ability to do so.

That's awesome stuff MediaFiasco... enjoying your shows!

Your mention of the "workflow" in managing all of the equipment reminds me of this...

Seems as though it can get complicated quick...

    LOL!

Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm glad you are enjoying the show - it is fun to do!

I guess I just can't let anything be... I am always trying to fiddle around with settings when in reality, it probably sounded okay before... I read an instruction page on setting up a compressor, and was up late last night messing around with it... Of course that means I'll have to adjust my post-processing, etc.

    Seems like it never ends...

Glad you noticed that... I thought that it would be appropriate product placement...

Ya'll got some very nice equipment! Right now all I got is my computer and it's microphone. Audcity is there too but I haven't figured how to work it completely into the show. So yeah, nothing to see over at Brushfire Studios.... but yall have given me great ideas!
