Tomboy Tirade #47: COMIC BOOK SHOP TAKEOVER

"The comedy duo Persis and Raven, runs a comic shop this week in this comics themed episode of the Tomboy Tirade."

It’s a slow sales day, even as the comic book shop is slowly overrun with customers turning up in superhero costumes.

But first, the Pawn Star Wannabes have to channel their Kevin Smith and decide if Patrick ‘s zombie baby dolls are a good bargain for the shop.

Things never stay quiet for long in the wacky world of Tomboy Tirade. Are those customers your typical cosplayers or do their superhero costumes look too realistic even for fanatic fanboys and fangirls? How did a typical day at a comic book shop explode into a Marvel versus DC superheroes showdown?

Here's what went down this episode:

    1. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

    a) WHERE HAVE ALL THE WHITE ACTORS GONE? - Entertainment news site Deadline came under fire after claiming that white actors were having a hard time getting jobs as shown by all the hiring for TV pilots of "ethnic" actors. Editor Nellie Andreeva appreciates diversity, but “whoa;" she wrote, it was overkill.

    b) IS ENTHIC CASTING A FAD? - This is following by a half-hearted apology , which excused the intent of the article as to examine if the "uptick of TV pilot casting of people of color" over white actors was just a "fad”.

    c) NEW WONDERWOMAN COSTUME - Erik Larsen, creator of Savage Dragon and one of the founders of Image Comics, does not like the Wonder Woman costume and took to Twitter to express his opinion. “I’m tired of the big two placating a vocal minority at the expense of the rest of the paying audience by making more practical women outfits."

    2. SHE MAKES COMICS - We speak to Producer Patrick Meaney about the making of “She makes comics”, what it is like being on the road to promote it and the audience response to the documentary. She Makes Comics is the first film to bring together the most influential women of the comics world and features interviews Ramona Fradon, Trina Robbins, Joyce Farmer, Karen Berger, Kelly Sue DeConnick, G. Willow Wilson and Gail Simone.

    3. QUICK FIRE WITH PATRICK MEANEY - It’s time for our infamous Tirade Quickfire session with Patrick! Is he a superhero or supervillian under the mask? Listen to find out!
