Should your podcast have a transcript?

I was wondering if this is something to consider doing. Does anyone here transcribe their podcast? Has it helped at all with SEO ?

We have detailed show notes based off our show outline document and I think that's enough for most SEO. We have been lucky that two of our recent interviews were transcribed by a listener. The first one she did on her own without asking, but we got such good feedback that we asked her to do it again.

I'm convinced that detailed show notes up to but not necessarily including a full transcript are essential. Many podcasters don't bother to produce them, and they're probably not going to grow as quickly as those who take the time. In reality, the notes are not unlike a blog, so you get to have the better of both worlds: Written for people who read, and spoken for people who listen.
Please direct all questions for me to the forum so that all can benefit.
