    Studio is taking shape...

After months and months of non-deciding I finally made my decision and bought part of my equipment. First of all I'd like to thank each and everyone of this forum for the info they provided. I'll mention you in my first podcast :-)

What did I buy and why?

    1. Shure SM7B. This choice was one of the toughest ones. Plenty of advice and plenty of contradictory opinions. After weighing the pros and cons from everyone (and one person in particular) my choice went to this mike. Also because it seems to be a little bit forgiving. I'm not an audio guy, so I cannot discuss frequency responses and stuff like that. Price/quality this seemed to be the best choice.

    2. Rode PSA1 professional studio boom arm. Not much to say about it. I just needed a boom arm and this one did the trick.

    3. DBX286S microphone pre-amp processor. People following this forum know why :-) It also gives me this extra bit of juice for the Shure SM-7B

    4. Allen & Heath 12FX. Also a tough one. I really like the digital mixers but I decided to learn how to walk before I can run (is this correct?). Preferred choice was the Allen & Heath XB-10 but it's hard to find over here and I could get a real good deal today buying the mixer, microphone, processor, ... It also have 2 pre-fade/1 post-fade aux sends (for Skype integration), USB stereo audio in/out, ...

I'm saving for the Tascam SS-R200 now and than is my audio part of the studio more or less complete...

And now the one million dollar question: "When is your first show finally going on air?" Soon, I hope ;-)

I would love to know who the one particular person is who motivated you to buy the SM7B. We're all friends here. You're not going to offend anyone!
Please direct all questions for me to the forum so that all can benefit.

Hello Rudy and welcome to the forum. I used to work in Antwerp and Rotterdam in the 80's but haven't been back there since. Only thing I can remember well, is that you have some very nice looking female cops.

I love the sm7b. I have noticed that some people sound muddy but it really comes down to how you are setting it up
