Skype Killing old versions - Will impact Wirecast

With Skype killing off all older versions in the coming months (anything below 6.13) This will have a huge impact on anyone using Virtual Video output via Wirecast. For whatever reason HD Video does not work if you are using anything above Skype 5.10.

Does Wirecast have any fixes coming up to correct this ? Being able to send HD video out of Wirecast is a big deal for many of us. This will be a serious issue if a solution is not found

Wirecast 5.0.3, Skype 6.18, Mac OSX 10.9.3, Canvas and Virtual Camera 1280x720.
Works fine although not testing on a call. Just looking in Skype Preferences. Shows as 4:3 but that's always been the case in preferences.

Im not sure how it works on the mac but on windows it doesnt work (Tested it last a month ago). You need to be monitoring the Skype call technical info in order to tell what resolution you are sending the video. It stays at 640x360 never goes HD

Craig, Testing it within the Skype preferences doesn't prove that it works. You would need to test it in a call and see how it acts.

If Wirecast virtual camera is sending 720 and Skype only sees 360 it sounds like a Skype limitation. Perhaps this is an attempt to force people into their new professional program.

I wouldn't call it a limitation. Skype changed the way it handles video in V.6 (over a year ago). I have been trying to get someones attention over at wirecast for some time. Its not a Wirecast bug but it would be possible to correct the issue with some sort of change.

Have you tried going into Skype with Blackmagic or Matrox device at 720?

Do you have a case number from Telestream support?

I was a Skype beta tester (technically still aim) working specifically on testing external inputs.... but let us just say I became frustrated.

BMD input complicated? Part of my testing was to make sure it was recognized and worked as if it were a webcam source. Apparently they broke that too if it's more complicated than that.

My understanding is that changing this would require some cooperation from Skype and that maybe therein lies an issue.
