    ATR-2100 Microphone price increase

Holy crap! whats going on with this microphone at one point it was 38 dollars now its around 80 bucks.

Can someone explain why the price is going up. The only thing I can think of is that they are no longer making the microphone.

lol you're lucky, in Canada it's over 100$.

I tried to buy an AT-2005USB/XLR mic from B&H but it says the manufacturer does not ship to Canada. The ATR 2100 on the other hand, does ship to Canada. I contacted B&H and they said the reason why the AT 2005USB/XLR is not shippable in Canada is because it is not considered a consumer product. Weird.

They will probably come down when the rush to buy them has slacked off. Look around there has been a lot of favorable publicity for the ATR2100 USB. The publicity is really over the top.

You can buy an SM57/58 for $99, a better mic.

I'm not recommending sweetwater... just a link. You can probably get a better price at local guitarcenter.

Better mic? How so? The SM57 is one of the most commonly used mics.

I totally disagree that the SM58 is a better mic. Yes, it is more durable. No, it does not sound better. Yes, it does cost more. No, it does not have a USB output.

One reason the price on the ATR2100 has gone up is that the manufacturer is out of stock. They are made in a Chinese shop and shipped to the US. They are back ordered from China. The mic has not been discontinued. It's possible that the price will drop when supplies are more abundant.

In the interim, if you can buy the AT2005 cheaper, do it. If neither is available at an affordable price, get the Samson Q2U.
Please direct all questions for me to the forum so that all can benefit.

Any good mic flag and foam ball recommendations for the Audio-Technica 2005USB/XLR microphone?

Any thoughts on this? Update: made the plunge and bought it.
