Question How many podcast episodes should be listed on iTunes

a friend of mine has been podcasting for years and has over 150 podcasts listed on itunes. I had read that there is a limit on what you should be listing. Do any of you know what the limit is? and if there is one how would you set it?

This is a good question. I would have to say as many as iTunes or whoever is controlling your feed will allow you. The max you can get in Feedburner is 512k in size. but you can maximise your size in BluBrry Powerpress with their new feature "Feed Episode Maximizer" under the "Feeds" tab.

My Game plan is to keep growing the number till I cant grow no more and then hold it.

iTunes suggests you only display 10 shows per feed. We had to change all of our feeds from 30 to 10

Limiting to 10 really limits the stats in feedburner or podtrac. I have shows that are over 10 weeks old that are still getting regular downloads because someone searched for the subject and found a specific episode. I do know iTunes recommends only 10 though.

Podtrac only pays for 4 weeks worth at a time. Anything beyond that wont count .

understood, I was not referring to the payment part of podtrac as much as the contents of the shows are still relevant after 10 weeks and people are still finding them based upon the stats in Podtrac.

I totally agree with you. The more you display the more hits you will get. I guess the key would be to drive those people to your website.

Just wondering why do they want to limit your podcasting listing to 10?
