Well, I have a slight advantage since I am the general manager of a broadband company. I have 100/100Mbit over a gigabit fiber connection coming into my house which is distributed to my studio (a separate building) via 100mbit fiber converters.
I can say that speed is somewhat relative as the "feel" of the difference between 50Mbit and 100Mbit really isn't all that different. But it does allow for me to stream multiple streams of video and audio at once without really worrying about a bottleneck.
We are doing fine with 5/30 here. The CPU is more of the bottleneck. We have a T-1 to fall back to in case TWC goes down.
Until I get the studio built, we have multiple shows on location and therefore at the mercy of some of the worst connections. Looking forward to having the studio when we can rely on our internet connections and improve the quality.
I guess im really spoiled by my fios speeds. Nearly everyone else that remotes into us has less then 5mbps upload...

Wow! I am so envious of you fibre guys. I have cable and 50/5.
Nothing wrong with cable 50/5. I sell that too and if I wasn't lucky and in this position, that's what I would be using. :)
I have 30/5. I am CPU limited right now, which is probably a good thing as getting a higher upload would cost quite a bit more.
Unfortunately, I'm 30/5, but I was 10/512K. The sad part is that it is unlikely that TimeWarner will upgrade our service is my lifetime. No FIOS here.
By the way, it took several weeks after the service was installed to get it working well. If you're using the UBEE DDW3611 DOCSIS 3.0 router and modem, you need to bridge the modem and use a better router, like Netgear. The difference is dramatic in terms of reliability.

I think many people would be willing to give up some download speeds for a boost in upload
Seems like Verizon is upping the ante (even though they aren't deploying into new areas anymore).

I have a 50/5 from TWC. I like it, Its good for pushing out an HD live stream.
Well seems like im getting an update in a few weeks. I should be getting 150/65 from fios on both our lines. Think thats enough??

Did some Speed Tests a few times. My highest came out to this:
Download = 20.36 Mbps
Upload = 8.18 Mbps

Fully agree with mcp here. The Ubee router is a piece of garbage, but there's not any other options. Set that up as a bridge and let a router do the bulk of the work.Quote:
