Jake,
I have used FMLE to record with mixed success. But it really depends on what you want to with the recording. Archive? Upload?
As a VidBlaster user, I use it to record all of my broadcasts. One of the latest betas has a MPEG recorder feature, pretty sweet. It will also record FLV, MOV and WMV, as well as AVI uncompressed.
I generally use the WMV. A broadcast of about 90 minutes is about a 3gig file.
Hey Jake.
I also use Vidblaster to record the show. each show is recorded at 10mbps and is a WMV File.
In Wirecast i have 2 recordings simultaneously recording:
Recording for post production:
ProRes LT @ VBR to 105Mbps
854x480 resolution
25FPS
48Khz mono audio - 16 bit integer uncompressed
Recording for instant podcast/archive:
H.264 @ 2Mbps
854x480 resolution
25FPS
48Khz mono audio - MPEG 4 audio @ 128K
I use FMLE to stream to a FMS... I've had fairly good success with it. I DO want to upgrade my capture card so that I can switch over to Wirecast though... being able to add content to my stream from my desktop is looking REALLY good.
Hey Scotty yhats how I had started out. I would record my show in FMLE. I eventually went to Vidblaster and have never looked back
Using Wirecast on Mac, I usually record either in Apple ProRes LT or Apple Intermediate Codec at 1280x720 29.97fps. Audio is PCM Stereo at 48kHz.
Wirecast recording software is very good. You have more options with file format and size then Vidlbaster. We will be starting to use Wirecast as an encoding machine in a few weeks.
I use Wirecast to record shows. I like it how you can start & stop recording on the fly.
I use Xsplit broadcaster for all my shows. I think xsplit is great although a bit buggy but it is only in 1.0. It's affordable too.
