Question, Is the quantity of equipment you have in your studio an absolute prerequisite for a functional set up, or is a lot of it serving as a convenience? What I'm trying to ask is can one get by ,with say ,less computers and even without the ax board? Do vidblaster and the video encoding process really need their own dedicated machines?

Hey Bushido,

The equipment that Andrew shows in this video is are not things needed to put on an Internet Broadcast. You can get by a broadcast with one PC a webcam and a microphone.

definitely, kenneth.

I was just wondering if it took ALL of his inventory to achieve his level of sound and easy of studio functionality. I'm definitely incorporating GFQ's lighting and video set up into my studio. I'm just trying to determine if I should purchase the same amount of gear.

Hey Bushido,

Ken is right. you don't need to have any of this equipment. I would suggest getting something that you can grow with and something that has at least two Aux Sends. We outgrew what we were using and decided to get something that wont need to be upgraded again for a very very long time.

We need to have a separate encoding machine because we are streaming to 5 different CDNs. Not something that most people will be doing but splitting the workload is always a good idea.

Ah, this makes perfect sense, As the ram requirements for one machine doing your entire operation would be punitive. I have the lights and foam walls coming in this week. Trying to get all of this set before my march re-launch. I just wish I had a tech genius and a lighting expert to come in the studio and help me get the bugs out before relaunch.

To be honest with you bushido, I think its better to do a few beta shows and let the viewers help you change your set up. That is something I did for my podcast "On The Radar" and it worked really well.

Certainly worth strong consideration. I might go with that train for a few episodes.

Pretty much every successful internet broadcaster that we know today started with a computer, a webcam, and a mic. Not much more needed. Those 3 items plus your lights and sound foam, equals a pretty nice setup. If anything I would add a mixer to the equation, but that's about it.

If that is the prerequisite, Then it appears I'm in the game. I might make the march deadline ahead of time. I just need to wait for my posters to finish at the printing press so I can have my own brand on the studio walls then I'm set.
