The ads on Justin.TV streams are getting obnoxious. These prices seem REALLY steep to me. A $100 a month for 100 viewer hours? That's not very many people. If you have an hour-long show that you start and stop right on the dot with lets say 50 weekly viewers, you'll only get two broadcasts a month before you hit your cap. Forget 24/7 broadcasting.

In order to cover these costs, you have to have some advertising. And in order to have that, you've got to have a big enough audience. And that big audience is gonna eat up those viewer hours very quickly. At that point, all your ad revenue is going to cover this pro account.

By the way, outside of their streaming costs, I don't think their operating budget can be very high. I read an article in Fast Company a month or so ago that said there were only two employees left to maintain Justin.TV. The rest had been moved over to Twitch. So I'm not convinced these prices are justifiable. I understand they need to make some money and streaming is expensive. But I think they'd get a lot more subscribers offering say unlimited viewer hours for $39.99 a month with maybe just banner ads or one automated commercial roll-in per hour. Whether or not they'd be making money at that point... hmmm.

These prices seem to be targeting at media operations that can afford it. Do they really think the average netcaster is going to be able to afford anything but the basic package? They'll get a select few probably, but like I said, imagine how many more they'd attract with a MUCH lower price and no streaming caps.

I agree with you. And Bambuser is the same way. Pricing service this way is also bad for companies like the GFQ Network that stream 24/7.

Dacast is positioning itself to do well. Here is an interview with Greg Ellis, VP of Dacast hosted by That Vidblaster Guy, Tom Sinclair.
