Suggestions please for an inexpensive video card to use in Pci slot in my dell inspiron so that i will have dual monitors.

Do i just need a card with one output?

And how much memory on the card do i need? I have seen the cards go from 512k to 3gb.

Thanks

Bill

If your motherboard has PCI Express you can get decent cards $150 that will do up to 3 monitors on a single card. Made by AMD they call it eyefinity.

Yup Kevin is right there are a bunch of good Video Cards in that 100 dollar price range.

Cos PCI gfx cards are now 'old tech' they can cost more than the newer PCI-express cards, just like how older types of ram can cost more... so yeah it may be more cost effective to go for the newer PCI-e cards, I would try looking for an Nvidia 1gb card with 2-3 HDMI outs, like Andrew said you should be able to find a few good brands under the 100 bucks mark.

PCI video cards are extremely slow. If you're doing anything involving live video processing on it expect a lot of dropped frames.

AGP Video cards are faster if you are looking for something other then PCI E
