I'm a Sony cam guy and I'm still plugging along with my T-Rex A900 with a ZA 135/1,8 and most recently, the ZA 50/1,4. My last trip to Italy with those two lenses was brutal at my age. For those of you familiar with fast-glass from Carl Zeiss you know full-well how much they can weigh on an A-Mount. Frankly, I can't imagine ever hauling around that set-up on vacation ever again.

Conversely, I'm not crazy with 'here today and gone today' camera models by Sony. Yes I know, they offer the most advanced products in terms of sensors and such, but it's simply more than I can handle. I mean, a model you buy today is very likely to be, not only obsolete, but discontinued the following year! Good luck trying to find service should the need arise.

I have been a canon guy for some time now but after seeing some of the picture quality from some of these sony cameras I must say its worth looking at again .

Hi Andrew,
I know I was on my rant but I'm sticking with Sony nevertheless. In fact, as long as my Alpha-900 continues to work, I'm happy! However, I will definitely be looking at something else for travel. As it is, I prefer more deliberate photography here on the home front, or sanitized venues whereby I have the time and conditions to set things up. I shoot 90% from a very good tripod for all the right reasons.

I am interested in finding out how the video auto-focus and audio inputs on this device works. I hope it has ND filters and gradual F-stop or ISO controls without being too visibly evident.

That's has to be one of the best produced video commercials I've ever seen. While I still prefer the A-Mount, I'm quite impressed with what I'm seeing.

Oh, so now that I finally buy a Canon HF-G30, I need to get a Sony instead?

The Canon HF-G30 is great and you save 1000$. If you are using the Canon HF-G30 for blogs or podcasting reasons, it is more than enough.

I shoot with a Sony RX10 and it is a great camera for low light plus the constant 2.8 is a plus.

I'm not using it for anything yet. I can't figure out the best format for shooting and the way to seamlessly edit the MTP files, or whatever they are. I'm an audio guy.

MTP files? I thought it recorded AVCHD or .MP4 files. In Adobe CC you can drag and drop virtually any video and format and it will play it.

Well, I'm a photo guy so I'm most certainly behind the knowledge curve when it comes to video cameras. After watching this clip I remain satisfied with my old 2008 Sony A900. Not even a built-in flash, simply an old-school full-frame mirror flipping camera. Before that it was a rangefinder camera from Germany so yes, I'm old.

I been debating upgrading but am not sure if the cost will be worth it once I sell my current RX10

I recently bought a Canon C100 for the same reason. While the ISO can go to 80,000 ISO I doubt I would ever go that high. Half of the events that I cover, light is an issue.
