Mixlr is a fantastic audio-only streaming service. It was created for music broadcasters, but it is well suited for Internet broadcasters, as well. They recently posted an article on their blog that includes suggestions for building your audience. You might want to take a look.

I have been using Mixlr for a few weeks now, never have anyone listening. My Podcast is only a month old but still I figured someone would click on it for giggles. I see a lot of international music or shows, not many English speaking channels.

Mixlr is a great streaming provider but you will not see many hits coming from the service. I would love to see a better directory of content providers but the reality is there is only so much that they can do. If people are not searching you wont see the hits.

I do my best to get the word out, but yeah, unless you are coming there for a specific show you won't find it accidentally.

I was just having this discussion with someone about the directory that they have. Discoverability is not too good on the service I think it would defiantly be beneficial for both the broadcaster and service if they started featuring content on the front page.

Mixlr's bread and butter is music broadcasters. They happen to be an excellent service for live podcasters, but it's not their market yet. I'm working on them.

I would like to see more Talk based stations on there. what would be a dream is if they offered a service like Blog Talk Radio. but better

They're working seven days a week trying to build their service. They have a long list of feature requests. Unfortunately, the talk podcasting market is so microscopically small that some of the things we would like to see are not near the top of their list.

If you're using Mixlr, consider paying for a premium account. It takes money to grow.

You can Broadcast and share live audio. Use up to 3 channels and mix audio between them. Connect to any audio source. Add a built-in or external mic. Create a playlist and take it live. Thanks for sharing the post Mike.
