A few months ago on This Week in Radio Tech Dan McQuillin the founder of Broadcast Bionics came on to talk about his company. Off the air I had spoken to him about video switching via audio source. He told me that he was working on something for Vidblaster. According to him it is possible to have automated video switching via Axia livewire drivers and his new software

Here is what Mike Versteeg posted on the Vidblaster forum about it

"Broadcast Bionics is creating a software product that seems to do exactly what you want. They'll be demonstrating the first version at NAB in a few weeks. Their product interfaces with VidBlaster to handle automated camera switching based on audio detection and association between cameras and console channels. They detect the audio for each mic over livewire from Axia consoles along with information about fader position etc. Each camera can be associated with a Mic or a group of Mics and the system automatically selects the best camera depending on who is speaking (or wider cameras if a group of people are speaking). Additionally the visualisation system is linked with their call screening and social media platforms and includes its own caption generation to show lower third straps etc. when a caller is put to air, when you read social media messages or to scroll through lists of moderated social media content. Release to market is planned for IBC."

As someone who uses Axia livewire drivers this is awesome. Im hoping to chat with Dan at NAB this year.

That is amazing! I hope it becomes available for other software switchers like XSplit, OBS and Wirecast.
