I am looking to get some more information regarding broadcasting in 1080p. Is anyone here streaming their live internet broadcasting in 1080p. what are some pros and cons?

We have not attempted to stream in 1080p yet but hoping to do a few tests in the new year

It seems, based on my limited and recent education, that ABR (automatic bitrate) would handle this. In other words if you source your content in 1080p to the CDN and they utilize ABR you have nothing to worry about. They will detect if the end-user is on a iPhone or operating from a device with bandwidth to handle the 1080p stream... I may misunderstand the technology but that's how it appears to me...

Not many people are doing 1080p... Most people can't even do 480p

Well there are a few issues with 1080p broadcasting

CPU performance, Internet speeds, and of course the viewers side.

I see the problem with streaming in 1080p is more on the viewer side than the broadcaster side. You may have everything you need to send out a 1080p stream, but if the brunt of your viewers can't decode and view 1080p content efficiently, there's really no point in doing it. I don't believe we're quite at the point where 1080p capable viewers are ubiquitous.

Just my .02 worth.

Now, if you want to make a 1080p version available for download, that's a different story. That allows the viewer to make the choice instead of the broadcaster.
