I have developed a problem over the past few years. I have become a Microphone Junkie ! Thank Mike Phillips for that!

My next Microphone is going to be the Sennheiser MD441 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0003066XC/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0003066XC&linkCode=as2&tag=thgufrquponet-20)

I think you make us all jealous :) Very cool looking mic... Have you tested it yet?

I have not tested it yet. I know that its one of Mike Phillip's favorite microphones.

Im still a huge fan of the MD421. I figured I would give it a try, and I cant imagine going to anything else.

I still like my EV, but this mic is awesome.

Personally I think it looks great! I just read over the specs from the various websites and it's easy to see why the reviews are so favorable. Also, it's easy to understand how the mic fetish can take hold here on the forum. I've been eyeing a particular condenser mic but all I will say at this point is that it's off in left field for sure! Hopefully calmer heads will prevail and I'll stay focused on my studio basics before adding candy to the 'mix'.

As it is I'm still waiting for my wonder-rack to arrive and yes it's clearly over-the-top. Oh well, when I drop dead my son the musician will inherit some pretty nice stuff.

I dont know... Its cool but wouldnt it be a hard mike to use on the air. The angling seems weird

Any thoughts on the RODE NT1 (Not the NT1-A)?

"With only 4.5dBA of self-noise the NT1 is the quietest studio condenser microphone in the world!"

Rode makes good mics, but for broadcasters, they're nothing special, IMHO. If I were going to buy a Rode mic for a male voice, it would be an NTG3 shotgun, like the Sennheiser MKH416 but with more proximity effect. Like any expensive microphone, I'd buy it from a dealer that would let me return it if I didn't like it.

For what its worth, I know that Sweetwater allows for returns and they do stock the NTG3 shotgun mic and the NTG-3B (B for black). One would have to pay for the return shipping but that's it. BTW, A quote request typically results with a lower price than what is listed on their website.

Good to know Dan. Thanks for the heads up.
