Just a little heads up for people who are looking to use the new Logitech C930e in Wirecast. The camera is currently not supported. When you try to use it the frame rate is very bad. According to Telestream this is a known issue and is being worked on. Hopefully it will be fixed in Wirecast 5

Any update on this? I was kind of hoping to use multiple C930e webcams.

Nothing yet. Last I heard they knew about this issue and would be corrected in Wirecast 5.

Can someone fill me in on whats special about the c930e?

From an entirely technical point of view ...it's new. Kidding aside, my pithy FaceVision cam pivot-joint broke so I need a cam and the c930 just seemed interesting.

RightLight 2 technology that automatically adjusts the image for improved visual quality in low-lighting situations.

The C930e offers an extra-wide 90-degree field of view at full 1080p resolution (30 frames per second) and sports a Carl Zeiss-certified lens that's been engineered to nip fish-eye distortion in the bud – giving users the chance to move around and animate distance collaborations instead of standing statue-like in the center of the frame. Additionally, digital pan-tilt-zoom feature is claimed capable of maintaining a high definition image at up to 4x magnification.

Support for the H.264 SVC and UVC 1.5 video encoding standards means that processing can be undertaken within the webcam, leaving the PC free to get on with other tasks, and the webcam can dynamically scale HD video streams to make the best use of available bandwidth.

Though the USB 2.0-certified (USB 3.0-ready) C930e has been specially optimized for Microsoft's Lync communications platform, it is reportedly compatible with most unified comms and video conferencing applications, including Skype.

That Vidblaster Guy had some issues with the C930e: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ybvlas0zD0&feature=c4-overview&list=UUyEHaAvXMNCXcN510fsrUcw

I'm really, really looking forward to Andrew's tests.

On a personal level, I'm interested in the C930e because I would like to have multiple matching cams that are affordable, portable and have 1080P high quality video (The C930e doesn't have good camcorder zoom options, but that's not a issue for me).

Has anyone contacted Logitech about this? There is nothing mentioned in their forums: http://forums.logitech.com/

The Logitech C910 and C920 are awesome webcams at any price. It's natural to assume that the C930e would be the next progression. Since the C910 and C920 are discontinued, and since the C930e doesn't work with Wirecast, that's a problem. Chase Nunes gets stellar results with the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema, but I cannot get anywhere near the result he gets. If I were using Wirecast and had to buy a webcam today, I'm not sure what I would buy.

Small Correction Mike the c920 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006JH8T3S/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B006JH8T3S&linkCode=as2&tag=thgufrquponet-20) is not discontinued. The C920 is the top consumer webcam from Logitech and the C930e is for enterprise.

Chase is using a C920 and a like $4,000 dollar JVC Camera for his Main shot. I don't think he uses the Lifecam's anymore.

C920 still alive and kickin'. Interesting that there's a B(not C)910.

I do not recommend the c930. Lack of control really makes it a pain in the butt
