So I am thinking of building a sound board type app for Windows (desktop). So far I was thinking:

1. Four rows of 5 buttons (20 total sounds)
2. Drag your sound file on the button you want it to be on. The sound files name will populate the label below the button.
3. NOT a Metro app!
4. A volume slider
5. Sounds can play at the same time (not interrupt each other)
6. Anything else you need???

I don't want it to be too complex. Click the button and the sound plays.

Of course I will need beta testers :-)

Good idea. So it's basically a digital version of the old analogue Cart Tray. There are a few around the web. Colour coded buttons which you can label and import sounds and save them as sets for particular shows would be cool.

Good luck

How about some sort of categories so we can have more than 20 files, and are organized into categories we define? That would be great for having a category for specific shows or specific types of effects.

Download and try Jingle Palette (http://www.jinglepalette.com) first. It does a lot of things right. With just a few changes, it would be perfect for our application. One critical step is the ability to press a second button and have the currently playing audio fade out according to a programmable setting.
