With the recent spat of orchestrated cyber attacks on content management systems / web hosting and the rumors of attacks on content distribution methods next, how do organizations plan on protecting their online content distribution systems ?

Here are some suggestions to keep your site from getting hit:

1) Avoid using Wordpress, Drupal or any joomla prior to Joomla 2.5.
2) Setup a dedicated server. With shared servers it is possible to get infected by another account on the shared server if the hacker gets system level access.
3) on your dedicated server setup OSSEC so you know if something on your server gets changed.

If you already have wordpress setup, be sure to check very regularly for updates and as much as possible, limit the plugins you install.

Wordpress - Drupal - Joomla are all about fixed / static content. The cyber wars are starting to creep into actual multimedia content distribution. Certain groups / individuals / political factions / countries want to limit - eradicate what they percieve as content unbecoming to their cause.

How are stations prepared to deal with such outside forces limiting their voice / taking down their multimedia servers - etc.

The biggest thing you can do is use good passwords. Never use usernames like admin. You can easily use a password manager such as LastPass to keep track of passwords. That way you can have a good strong password for each site.
