Hi everyone,

I received an email from one of my viewers who wanted to know if it was ok to re-broadcast episodes of one of my shows on a public access cable channel.

It is my understanding it is a public access channel that the local school system runs.

Before I say yes, is there any caveats I should consider?

Hey Mike,

I know a few people who have considered broadcasting their shows on Public Access. Is there any contract they want you to sign?

No, nothing, they just asked if it would be ok if they would re-broadcast the show on the public access channel.

That is kind of why I am asking, no contracts or anything. Wondering if there is something I should be concerned about.

I would give it a shot!

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure there were no red flags I should look for before saying yes.

The question is whether you have the rights to all of the material on YOUR broadcast. Are you using licensed or podsafe music? Are your guests okay with the content being rebroadcast on the public access channel? Is there any NSFW content that is inappropriate for a school-based channel?

All the music for the intro and outro is licensed. It is an electronics projects podcast where it is all my original work so no issue there. We are family friendly so there should not be any language issues. I assumed before he contacted me he was ok with the format of the show.

Thanks, those are all good things to consider.
